JUNE 8 UPDATE: A roof! A thing of beauty

Dave and Walt worked on the last of the roof this morning, and got the ridge line done just before lunch. They were still doing some detail work this afternoon when a storm chased them in. We had three separate bouts of thundershowers this afternoon and evening, none of them amounting to much. But even if they had--who cares about rain when there's a roof on your home!

I ran out after the last storm to take some pictures of the granary with the dark clouds in the background. Dave says I could take that picture just about every day now. That's been true for the last week at least, and we've got more showers in the forecast for the next week, though Monday and Tuesday look clear for now. ... Isn't that roof just beautiful?!

There was a rainbow in the southern sky. The top of the mailbox is in the foreground.

The colors were really quite lovely after the storm.

Here's the view over the old chicken coop. All's clear after the storm.

Side note: We've become a bit of a tourist attraction. Dave said three cars drove by slowly while they were working this morning. A neighbor stopped by yesterday and said the project has been the subject of discussion at the coffee shop in Frederick. He said in church this morning that our house will be "just as cute as a bug's ear" when it's finished.

I think so, too--the change in roof pitch was done for practical reasons, but I think it gives a great look to the whole building. A little like a girl with pigtails, maybe--kind of Pippy Longstocking-esque. We'll see what the effect is like when the windows are added--something else might come to mind.
