TODAY'S UPDATE: A roof, well on its way!

I can't say the roof is nearly finished, as there's a lot of detail work to do once the bulk of the roofing is done, Dave tells me. But, after days of prep work and getting held off from working by two days of rain, the south side of the roof is nearly done!

The guys had to wait until about 11 a.m. to get started, since everything was still wet and there was no wind to dry things out, but once they got going, they worked quickly! There were only about two rows of shingles on when they started this morning. This picture was taken about 6 p.m.

The rest of these pictures were taken after supper, about 9 p.m., just before they decided to quit for the night. Just a couple more rows on the south side and they can do the ridge! And then we'll have an unleaky roof! Yea!

Paavo, Dave and Walt, conversing about whether they have enough light to continue tonight.

Just a few more shingles ...

This one was taken Wednesday evening, which explains why we were all so darn excited to get the roof as far as it got today. They were working frantically to get the roof ready before the clouds on the western horizon rolled in. About a half an hour after this picture was taken, the crew was chased in by thunder, and there really wasn't much to do for the next two days while it rained.
